At the center of the captivating rolling fields, resided a young shepherd. His existence was essentially pure, simple yet virtuous. His primary duty was essentially to tend to his herd of sheep.
Their low murmuring and the whispering of the breezes through the single tree on the mountaintop were his main associates. Day in day, looking out for his responsibilities instilled in him a notion of tranquil contentment.

One morning he ran into the village screaming “Wolf! A wolf is that has taken my sheep!” The scared villagers rushed up the hills to offer assistance but found no wolf.
The boy giggled at the confusion on their faces. This prank continued for a couple of more days. However, one day, a real wolf actually come to prey the flock. The shepherd boy raced for help, shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one came.
Frustrated and alone, the boy battled against the wolf but could protect only few of his flock. Heartbroken, he returned to the town only to receive a lesson on honesty and the consequences of dishonesty.
The story of this shepherd boy has been passed down generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the value of honesty, the consequences of lying and the risks of false alarms. Moreover, it highlights how trust once lost, is hard to reclaim. It's a story as relevant today as it was in the past.
